I've been on holiday and then straight back into preparing a big launch for one of my clients, so posting has taken a back seat. I'll be back into regular rhythm soon
This LinkedIn post from
caught my eye. It's an important point, and highlights the misconception that many non-technical folks have about what software engineers actually do.
I was at a Bat Mitzvah1 this weekend, and got chatting to a couple who both turned out to be software engineers. Someone described us as a bunch of 'coders', which is pretty normal, but of course almost entirely inaccurate.
If being a software engineer were really about writing code, AI truly would represent an extinction-level event.
It can write it far faster and far cheaper than any human could hope to accomplish, and today is the worst they’re ever going to be.
But that isn't what engineers are paid for.
Engineers aren't paid for what they did today - they're paid for what they can do tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow: more to come then.
Mozeltov to AR and the family 🎉
