Just keep swimming
I was speaking with a founder today who had been running a bootstrapped elite athlete performance app for the past 6 or so years. They now provide services to a whole range of famous teams, including Premier League football (soccer for our American cousins) and Rugby teams.
As we ended our call and were reflecting on running our own businesses, he shared a bit of advice:
“Just keep going”.
He said that no matter how hard it seems, managing to find a way to continue, to survive, to not die, was enough. By staying in the game, you have the opportunity to gain from unknown and unforeseen advantages that come your way. But you’ve got to be at the table to experience them.
I related to this. I’ve been running my own business for coming up to two years, and there’s no way I could have predicted how things have panned out thus far. It’s not always been easy, and there’s definitely times I’ve considered throwing in the towel, but I had stopped I would have missed what was waiting for me around the corner.
So, as the wise sage Dory says: just keep swimming.
